The students at a Boston middle school received a big surprise Tuesday afternoon, a visit from Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown.
Some of the students at the Helen Y. Davis Leadership Academy, a public charter school in Dorchester, knew something was up when they saw a large trailer pull up outside.
It wasn't until they filed out the front door that they saw the 6-foot-6 Brown inside the trailer, ready to hand out backpacks and T-shirts from his clothing line 7uice.
"A member of my community just trying to do some things, use my platform for the right thing: that's how I want them to see me," Brown said.
Students had the chance to interact with the 2021 NBA All-Star, take a picture with him and get an autograph.
"They didn't tell us nothing," said sixth-grader Malakye Alexander. "I was in shock. I don't know. I just seen Jaylen Brown and I didn't know what to say! I was just shocked."
School administrators said they invited Brown for a visit to reward students for their success in the classroom and to show them an example of not only a successful basketball player, but a successful businessman.
