TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Athletic League will host a backpack giveaway on Friday, Aug. 5 at the PAL Gymnasium at 3301 25th Street.

The giveaway will begin at noon, with backpacks provided to K-12 students.
PAL is described as a juvenile crime prevention program aimed at placing police officers and at-risk youth together with positive programs such as athletics, educational activities and more.
According to the Tuscaloosa Housing Authority, PAL serves over 200 children with special after-school programs each week, with most of the programs conducted at the Harris-Glynn Gym in McKenzie Court.
