We have collected ladies' moisturizing backpacks from major brands such as Camelbak, Dakine, Deuter, Evoc and Mazama. A hydrating backpack allows you to easily carry water to keep hydrated on the trails, while also storing other important items for long-distance riding, such as tools, snacks, clothing and other necessities. These are designed to allow you to ride long and short distances and provide back protection in the event of a fall. When looking for a mountain bike water bag, price, water bag, overall storage capacity, weight, fit and any additional features are taken into consideration. The first three hydrating backpacks listed below are especially suitable for women, while Evoc Stage and Mazama Tumalo are sold as unisex backpacks.

Camelback Rogue is lightweight and simple in design, making it ideal for short laps on local trails. This water bag can carry up to 2 liters/70 ounces of water, and the total cargo storage capacity is 5 liters/300 cubic inches.

Despite its small size, Rogue is able to organize cycling necessities in an orderly manner, while keeping everything inside easily accessible. The liner is located in its separate zippered compartment with an additional small hidden zippered pocket, which can be used to store your wallet, cards, smaller tools or your favorite snacks. If you want, you can even store extra items in the bladder compartment. The flexible quick-access compartment is an ideal place to store extra layers, gloves or cushions when not in use. The front vertical zipper pocket provides more storage space for easy access to tools, and is equipped with a key ring.

Next, let's move on to the fit. Rogue is a style designed specifically for women. Camelbak describes it as "S-shaped shoulder straps are suitable for women’s body to increase comfort and stability." Personally, this moisturizing bag fits my shoulders perfectly. And when riding a bicycle, the slender adjustment strap almost "disappears". I really like that the backpack fits your body and doesn’t get in the way when riding.

There is no belt, but this kind of compact water bag will not appear.

On hot days, the ventilated and flexible breathable mesh belt is the ideal choice. The slightly padded "Air Support" back cushion provides higher breathability and comfort where it is most needed. Breathable, lightweight materials are ideal for keeping riders as cool as possible. On a hot day, every little bit helps.

The adjustable sternum strap is a great additional feature, when the rock garden makes you feel uncomfortable, it allows further adjustments to hold the backpack in place.

The relatively small airbag and storage capacity are very suitable for short-distance riding. This is my first choice for laps on local trails. Despite the compact size of the backpack, the drop-in pocket on the front can hold a large number of items.

Over the years, I have been used to CamelBak bladder. They are simple and easy to clean. I really like the on/off switch on the mouthpiece, but I do want it with a plastic mouthpiece cover to prevent it from getting dusty when you find yourself behind all your friends in the cloud.

Dakine Drafter 10L is designed for durability and longer rides. It is equipped with a 3 liter airbag, which can hold up to 10 liters of equipment.

From bottom to top, two outer straps can be adjusted and fixed. They are designed for carrying body armor or extra layers.

The opening of the external plug-in compartment is large enough to accommodate a half-shell helmet and is secured with adjustable shoulder straps on both sides. The full-face helmet can also be fixed with an outer strap, with the helmet facing outward.

In the other built-in compartment, there is a hidden zipper pocket where you can put your phone, wallet, snacks and keys in the key holder. For reference, my iPhone 12 is easy to wear sideways.

When you need to store your glasses, the small outer zippered pocket at the top is easy to access. Don't worry about scratching the lenses, because the pockets are soft and lined with wool.

The main zipper compartment at the top opens about a quarter open, enough to store more items. Inside, there is a thin plug-in pocket for small pumps and a larger plug-in pocket for other tools or smaller items.

There is also a place in the compartment to carry spare batteries for your electric bike, whether it is a mountain bike or a commuter electric bike.

Dakine took a different approach, placing the 3L airbag at the bottom of the main compartment, in its own separate Velcro closed pocket. The airbag can be accessed through the main compartment, but it is actually designed to be accessed through the zipper at the bottom of the backpack. Due to the low center of gravity, carrying a complete bladder can keep the weight low. I like the simplicity of the bladder. If you find those rare trail taps, the smaller size and lower bag placement make it easy to refill quickly. In addition, it is easy to disassemble the hose and mouthpiece for cleaning.

The hydration hose comes out of the main compartment, through the designated hole, and through the shoulder strap. It can choose to run the tube from either side and is equipped with an adjustable magnet to hold it in place during your ride. The valve is a classic bite valve with a closing mechanism.

Turn over the backpack, the chest strap is adjustable and can be moved up and down through the integrated tube to achieve your preferred fit. The shoulder straps are designed with padded shoulder straps, and the S-curve women's clothing is particularly fit and comfortable to sit on.

If you like me like to avoid sweating on your back as much as possible, Dakine Drafter's air suspension backplane can solve the problem. This is a sturdy but well-ventilated back panel with mesh that separates the backpack from your body, allowing air to flow freely. Of all the hydration bags I have tested, this vest has the most ventilation. This is a great feature, because 10 liters of storage capacity will make this backpack heavier, so I appreciate as much ventilation as possible.

The backpack is also compatible with Spine Protector (sold separately), and this protection can be added to the back panel. This is an ideal choice for high-impact riding, if you fall, it will definitely give you confidence in protection.

The overall material is very strong and tough, and it is easy to wipe off dust and dirt.

Some things I don't like are weight, lack of lumbar support, and narrow compartment openings. At 2 pounds before being filled, the Dakine Drafter is the heaviest water bag in this review. I personally think twice before putting on this backpack for a full day of adventure, because the lack of lumbar support makes the bottom of the bag a bit recessed into my lower back, and during my testing, the shoulder straps started to feel that my shoulders are very strong. Heavy. Reducing the burden seems to help. When choosing a hydrating backpack, I personally prefer that the main zipper compartment is open for easy access to my things, rather than the narrow opening on this backpack. This is just a personal preference and does not hinder the overall performance of the backpack.

Deuter Flyt 12L is a high-quality backpack designed for performance, comfort and safety, suitable for days when you need to carry all your essentials and some essentials. The integrated back protection device provides maximum safety and inspires your confidence in rough road conditions.

Starting from the bottom, Deuter Flyt has a zippered pocket with a bright yellow fluorescent rain cover neatly hidden inside, allowing you to prepare for any wet and rainy weather.

When not in use, two external clips can conveniently fix your helmet by sliding the helmet earring strap into each clip. I really like this method of carrying a helmet because it is very small and can be used for work as well as shoulder straps in other backpacks.

The front compartment opens well and is very wide, revealing a few small pockets that can neatly store tools, snacks or other items and help you stay organized. There are two larger mesh pockets with elastic rings to hold small hand pumps. There are also two open pockets for any other small items. The horizontal zipper can fix/protect your phone, and the key clip can easily fix items.

The main compartment zipper opens 3/4 way, making it very easy to open and enter the interior. The inner flap has information about the backpack, washing symbols, CPR instructions, and steps to follow in an emergency. This main compartment is very deep and can hold a lot of things. There is an elastic drop-in pocket that can hold a water bag up to 3 liters and separate it from the main compartment.

Turn the backpack over, the back panel is padded, comfortable and breathable. Airstripes provide the comfort of ventilation and mesh coverage, while the raised stripes provide a gap between your back and your backpack.

With several adjustment points on the shoulders, you can really make this backpack to your liking. At the top of the shoulder strap, there is an additional small vertical adjustable shoulder strap. Along the outer shoulder strap is a velcro loop that is used to secure the bladder hose.

The chest strap can be moved up and down and can also be adjusted. There is a waist belt that includes two zippered outer pockets, one on each side. The waistband is very wide to provide support for the lower back while preventing any side-to-side movement. This backpack will stay in place during your riding while still having good breathability inside the mesh.

Take a break on the road, do you need a place to put your glasses? There is a small ring to secure your sunglasses by sliding into the temples of the frame. Very smart!

An extra deep vertical zippered pocket is perfect for storing your phone safely, or storing snacks for later use.

One of the main features of Deuter Flyt is the included back protector. This is perfect for those long-term high-altitude descents, or if you need all possible protection while riding. The protector is light in weight and provides strong back support for the backpack. A big added benefit is the free crash replacement. Just like a helmet, it is recommended to replace the integrated back protection device after a severe fall or collision. Deuter will replace the deformed protector free of charge within 2 years. The average service life of the backpack is about 2-4 years of regular use.

So far, this is the most comfortable of the larger water bags. Women's shoulder straps and additional adjustable straps have been well thought out. Despite its large cargo capacity, the wide waist belt can still hold the backpack in place and provide a higher level of lower back support even under heavy loads. The padded shoulder straps and Airstripes are comfortable, but I would say that the back panel is not as airy as other backpacks. Flyt's material is both flexible and strong. The company says it is “tear-resistant and abrasion-resistant,” while the “tight mesh structure” makes it lightweight.

I received this backpack later than other backpacks, and I only tried it once. However, I am very impressed with these features and all the features they provide. At $190, this is definitely the high end of the pricing range, but for those who need an all-around backpack that can keep up with all kinds of rough rides, it's also worth it.

The Evoc Stage 12L is ideal for a full day of mountain biking. It has plenty of space, storage space and organizational compartments to meet everything you need for an all-day adventure.

Starting from the bottom of the backpack, the Evoc Stage comes with an integrated rain cover that can be neatly stored in the bottom zipper, in case you run into trouble during rainy adventures.

Thanks to the designated "helmet carrying" system, a full face or half shell helmet can be attached to the backpack. The straps are located in designated Velcro pockets at the bottom and top of the backpack, and are affixed with such labels. There is a clip ring at the bottom of the backpack to connect the visible light at the rear.

The Evoc-classic double zipper opens the front compartment quickly and easily. Thanks to the internal zippered mesh pocket and several smaller mesh recessed pockets, you can neatly organize and view your tools, snacks or any other items. This compartment includes an additional Velcro closure to further secure its closure.

Store your sunglasses and other smaller items in the front zippered pocket on the top. It has a fleece lining design to prevent scratching your lenses, and two small mesh insert pockets to store any small items you want to easily reach.

The largest main compartment is zip-opened, and the front flap flips out for easy access. A good contact they include is the internal emergency plan label, which includes the emergency call number, what to say during the call, and some practical tips for distress signals. Inside, there is a hanging medium zippered mesh pocket with a key clip, which is perfect for protecting your phone.

With 12L storage space, this main compartment can hold a lot of things!

Water bags up to 3 liters can be placed in their own zippered compartment and stored separately.

Turn the backpack over, the back of the Evoc Stage back panel has rigid foam and mesh to protect the spine and maintain air circulation. Considering the large cargo capacity, the foam provides a soft overall back comfort.

The Brace Link Carrying System is a simple feature that allows the strap to be flexible to fit your shoulder width while also actively moving when the upper body moves naturally while riding a bicycle.

As an added benefit, there are two water bottle holders on each side of the backpack, in case you don’t want to bring a complete water bag.

The Evoc Stage can hold a lot of things, with a cargo capacity of 12 liters. The wide waistband has internal grip to hold the backpack in place and does a good job of preventing the backpack from bouncing around. After trying other women's specific straps, the Brace link helped to adapt to my shoulders. According to personal preference, a large opening in the main compartment is a must, because I like being able to easily open, access and find what I need without fussing.

Some of the less popular things are the colors of belts and water bags. Compared with other female-specific backpacks I tested, the waist belt is positioned higher and provides less lateral support than backpacks with larger waist "wings". I just want them to be wider and have pockets on them.

The bladder is small and simple. I am skeptical about the color of the bladder and hose. On the one hand, I like being invisible, but on the other hand, I want to see if mold starts to grow inside. Remember to wash and dry accordingly.

Overall, Evoc Stage 12L has excellent features, so you can comfortably carry the items you need for an all-day adventure.

Mazama Tumalo is a lightweight hydrating bag, powerful, and expensive. Equipped with 5 liters of storage space and 3 liters of airbags, it is suitable for various adventure activities and is also an ideal choice for local trails.

Starting from the bottom of the backpack, Tumalo has a convenient small zippered pocket with an outline that fits your tools.

You can fix the helmet on the bottom side ring, the criss-cross cargo net on the front of the backpack can store additional layers or protective pads, and can be fixed with a bungee jumping system.

The hydration compartment can be unzipped and accessed from the top of the backpack, and a drop-in pocket can hold a hydration bag.

Manzana took a different approach, accessing the main cargo compartment through the vertical zippered pocket on the right. The space inside takes up almost the entire length of the backpack, allowing you to store anything you can put in.

The airbag hose can be fed in through the left shoulder strap or the right shoulder strap, and fixed with elastic snap cords and integrated loops.

The shoulder strap is breathable with a mesh material. Along the shoulder strap, there are four elastic loops in which you can attach or clip on any other accessories. An ingenious feature is that the magnet of the airbag hose can actually be disassembled and placed in the elastic loop of your choice for the best fit. The adjustable chest strap can be adjusted up and down, allowing you to adjust the fit.

Tumalo also has so-called "stabilizing wings" with pockets. On the left is a drop-in pocket, and on the right is a vertical zipper pocket. These pockets are very helpful for storing gels or snacks. Who doesn't want to get snacks easily without having to take off the entire backpack?

The back panel has 6 padded sections that provide some cushioning and are slightly elevated to provide a little space between the backpack and the back.

The price of this bladder also left a deep impression on me. It includes a sturdy plastic strip, the same width as the top, to keep the airbag in place when it is full or empty. Thanks to the detachable hose and mouthpiece, cleaning is easy. The mouthpiece has a cool closing mechanism to prevent leakage.

Although the backboard is slightly lifted away from the backpack, it feels less airy than other backpacks I have tested after riding it for a few hours. It would be nice to have some grids on the back panel. However, for price points, this is not the main issue. On the bright side, this backpack can be worn in colder months to add some warmth. The hose has an integrated magnet, but it cannot be adjusted along the pipe. Although I did my best to adjust the shoulder strap magnet to the lowest possible loop, the water bag hose kept popping out during my trial ride.

With a suggested retail price of US$40, Mazama Tumalo is a great-value and affordable hydrating backpack that you can carry with you essentials on your mountain bike adventure. I think this is an excellent bag for riders on a budget. You can get a lot of features that most riders need.

In general, no matter which hydrating kit you choose, it is great to be able to comfortably put water and other basic equipment in one place, and be ready to enjoy the trail at any time. In addition, after falling down many times in the past, landing on the water bag cushioned my fall and helped me avoid any major injuries. A hydration backpack with integrated spine protection devices such as Deuter can inspire inner peace and confidence to deal with rougher lines. Most of these hydrating backpacks can also be used interchangeably, so you can take them to other outdoor adventures.
